Asbru Software releases CMS 5.5 with Integrated Database Add-On Module
London, United Kingdom, April 8, 2005 -- Asbru Software has released version 5.5 of the Asbru Web Content
Management system designed to provide control for non-technical users
while maintaining flexibility and power for technical users. The system
includes full WYSIWYG editing, collaboration, multi-language content
facilities, an e-commerce add-on module, and a community add-on module.
Version 5.5 adds a database module that enables website managers to add
custom data to their website in just a few minutes.
The main strength of the new database add-on module is that it can be
used for displaying and collecting almost any kind of information and
thus has a wide range of application areas. Examples of application
areas include custom polls, questionnaires, advanced surveys,
personalized faculty staff & student services, product information,
catalogues and access for website visitors to view their sales/support
enquiries or bookings/orders.
Flexible Database Design
Website administrators design their own databases via a non-technical
user interface. There is full flexibility in choosing the number and
types of data fields in the databases. Data types can include for
example simple text, rich text (HTML), numbers, dates, select options,
radio buttons, checkboxes and references/links to other content items.
Data can be imported from files or added manually through a simple
database administration interface.
Display, Browse and Search
Database information can be inserted and displayed anywhere on a
website in part or in full and in a format that suits specific
requirements. Browse and Search pages can be added to websites to
enable website visitors to find the special database content they are
looking for quickly and easily. Database content can also be summarized
to display summary lists and aggregated results of surveys and polls.
Personalized Content
The database add-on module is fully integrated in the framework of the
Asbru Web Content Management system and provides for database
content to be assigned to a specific registered website visitor and
displayed for this user only. Or database content can be assigned to a
user group and displayed for this group only, which is especially
useful when displaying database content for Intranet and Extranet users.
Data collection
The database add-on module has been further strengthened to enable
content to be collected from website visitors, Intranet and Extranet
users and administrators through completely customisable website forms.
Data collection forms enable website managers to setup for example
advanced questionnaires where responses are written directly to the
databases.
